More work for Visa unit at the State Dept local consulates
(too old to reply)

I stubled into a couple website and learned that the Visa unit has loaded
with more works. They now have to interview more people who apply for
different type of visa. That's why the appointment for immigrant visa now
takes a little longer.
I also understand that there is a time limit for our government to process
the K1 visa unless the embassy or consulate delay it.
Can anyone tell me why they delay so long for us since there is a limit like
that?
Thanks

I'm guessing that the 4 month expiration dates were well in place before
all the changes brought about due to 9/11 such as interviews for
everybody, additional security checks and the like.

Consulates can extend the deadline but you must request this if
necessary.
